Dear Thatchfield Resident,
With reference to the recent letter circulated, I would like to provide some clarification.
Our contract with Thatchfield came to an end in February 2025. Prior to that, we had been in discussions with Management since August 2024 regarding the renewal of a 5-year contract, which included all necessary upgrades and repairs at no additional cost to Thatchfield. As an alternative, we also proposed a 3-year contract, which would have included upgrades and repairs at an additional cost of R 493 000.00.
These upgrades and repairs covered, among other items, the fibre networks between the gates and the HOA offices as well as the booms. Please note that AMAX neither supplied nor was responsible for maintaining these components, yet they were the cause of many service outages for which AMAX often carried the blame.
The board decided against signing the proposed 5-year contract and instead indicated that they preferred a 1-year extension while going out on tender. Contrary to the recent statement that AMAX declined a short-term extension, it was in fact the board that did not sign the 1-year extension.
Because AMAX’s services to Thatchfield also rely on 3rd-party services and licensed software linked to annual agreements (which cannot be renewed monthly), we were unfortunately left with no choice but to cancel the SLA. Our offer on both the 3 year and the 5-year contract is still valid.
